The Vavengers at ministerial roundtable at FCDO
This February, on International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, we were delighted to join a ministerial roundtable with Anneliese Dodds at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office in London. The high-level meeting welcomed activists and NGOs from around the world working on ending FGM under the FCDO portfolio and beyond. In attendance representing us was our CEO Sema Gornall, and we shared the space with our long-term partners.
The Vavengers talked about our global report on health and legal disparities on ending FGM movement and asked for the UK to address challenges facing survivors and those at risk of FGM within the UK context as well as continuous funding to end Gender-Based Violence globally.
Convening opportunities like this one is important for survivors and NGOs working on these issues to communicate the challenges facing our movement and to build further partnership opportunities.
