The Vavengers launch London-wide support hubs

The Vavengers are delighted to announce the release of London-wide pop-up support hubs for Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and Gender-Based Violence survivors. The hubs will provide essential items, educational sessions on the harms of FGM/C, reporting knowledge and wellbeing support. The pop-up approach will ensure The Vavengers hubs are located across London, making them accessible to survivors wherever they are based.

The hubs are made possible as a result of the grant awarded to The Vavengers by Two Magpies Fund; a charity which gives funding to London organisations working with women who have experienced abuse, and/or supporting primary school children who are growing up in poverty or facing particularly challenging circumstances.

The hubs will enable The Vavengers to identify communities where support is needed the most and improve data-collection around FGM/C and Gender-Based Violence – something that is notoriously inaccurate. These hubs will be a safe space that offers confidentiality to all beneficiaries. A feedback service will invite women to anonymously share their experiences using hospitals and specific services as well as with other related issues. We will use all insights to direct our work in improving the offer of support in the UK.

CEO of The Vavengers, Sema Gornall, said:

“This is an incredibly proud moment for us and we are excited and honoured to begin providing support to survivors of FGM/C and Gender-Based Violence across London. When we run these pop-up hubs across London, we are also planning to launch UK wide hubs and create safe spaces for women which they can visit as long as they need.”

If you are a Gender-Based Violence or FGM/C survivor and would like to attend one of our hubs, please visit our services page.
