Wallace Global Fund backs the work of The Vavengers

We are delighted to announce a new funding partner joining our partnership portfolio. Wallace Global Fund, a long-time funder of women’s rights movements, supports The Vavengers with a grant to support our global convening work. Earlier this year, during the UN Commission on the Status of Women 69th session, we announced a high-level pro bono partnership with WilmerHale and King & Spalding as co-counsels, mapping out the entire world on health and legal disparities facing survivors of FGM. This impressive work The Vavengers is leading will bring together a global coalition with many leading anti-FGM grassroots and national organisations joining forces to raise the profile of issues we work to end together.

Wallace Global Fund’s expertise on Gender-Based Violence as well as their long-time funding efforts to end Violence Against Women and Girls made them a very natural fit to be funding partners for this project and with this support, we will be able to take our work on global stages including our planned activities during the UN General Assembly 80th anniversary and our national campaigning work to help achieve our asks of ‘One Question Campaign’. With this funding announced, Wallace Global Fund becomes the funder behind the world’s first global comparative map on health & legal disparities facing survivors of FGM, identifying gaps and challenges with a global lens.

We are grateful to WGF for backing this important work at a pivotal time for our organisation and movement and look forward to building the advocacy work.
