A lecture on FGM at the George Washington University

The Vavengers were delighted to be hosted by The George Washington University for a lecture on the FGM issue. The lecture was co-hosted by The George Washington University, The Vavengers, African Women’s Rights Advocates, and The U.S. End FGM/C Network.

Students and external guests enjoyed the film screening 'Mtetezi Daughters of Tomorrow' and The Vavengers’ new Story of The Girl animation film.

The lecture-style panel covered resource mobilisation to end FGM, private and public partnerships, the economic cost of FGM, as well as the recently developed Global Legal and Health Landscape Report on FGM. Expert speakers gave attendees insights on global efforts to end FGM and intersecting Violence Against Women and Girls. Speakers included Sema Gornall, Sir Max Hill KCB KC, Naimah Hassan, Isatou Jeng, and Victoria Evans. Guests were welcomed with opening remarks by Associate Professor Karen McDonnell.
