Our LBC news interview following the UK government’s announcement on the new steps to be introduced to tackle HBA

This evening, our Chief Executive Officer, Sema Gornall, joined a live conversation with Charlotte Lynch at LBC News. Sema highlighted the importance of not defining violence as a cultural norm and mentioned the need for a national survey on FGM and other forms of GBV at safe spots such as healthcare settings to address data poverty.

We look forward to continuing to work with the Home Office and FCDO during the implementation process with our expert input.

Today, the UK government announced six measures to tackle so-called ‘Honour’-Based Abuse. We worked in partnership with the Home Office & FCDO’s joint advisory board as a consultant organisation alongside ministers and other non-profit partners. The measures include a legislative definition of so-called ‘Honour’-Based Abuse, which will better clarify associated forms of Gender-Based Violence such as Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation.
