The Vavengers on BBC Politics London, covering child sexual exploitation in London
The Vavengers team worked closely with the BBC Politics London team to help reporters produce this news story on child exploitation and grooming gangs in London, an issue that is yet to come to light following the important work of Baroness Casey. Helen Drew reported on the issue through powerful interviews by Sahrish Iftikhar, an ambassador of The Vavengers and VAWG education project manager in Waltham Forest and Russell Winnard, CEO of Drive Forward who works in partnership with The Vavengers.
Sema talked about the need for a national survey of women and children at health and education points on all forms of violence and exploitation as well as an inquiry into the failing policing system. We will continue to support vulnerable women and children through our safe spaces, advocacy and convening work. Stay tuned for more updates on our important work.
Our CEO Sema Gornall joined a live studio conversation with Janet Daby MP and Louis French MP, in a debate hosted by Samantha Simmonds discussing details of this crime in London and why it hasn't come to light yet.
